Register of casinos to avoid

Avoid list

Casinos that serve Irish players without a verifiable licence, carry a sustained pattern of unpaid withdrawals, or have left the market and now attract impostor domains. Every entry shows its evidence, its date and the recourse open to you.

The register is being compiled brand by brand. A casino only appears once the licence status, the complaint record and the regulator record have been checked against their sources.

Best online casinos Ireland: what makes an Irish online casino trusted here

01

Licence, checked at the register

Every licence claim is looked up on the regulator's own register, not taken from the casino footer. Licences that cannot be verified are labelled as such, and an Irish online casino without one never makes the best online casinos Ireland table.

02

Payout times from real withdrawals

Cash-out figures come from operator terms and from withdrawals players report on this site, with the payment method and the number of days.

03

Trust index from many sources

Ratings on Trustpilot, Casino Guru, AskGamblers and boards.ie are combined into one score, weighted by how strict each source is. Reviews are summarised, never copied.

04

Commission never moves a rating

Some casinos pay a commission for sign-ups. Others are reviewed without any link at all. The rating method is the same for both, and it is published on the how we rate page.

Regulation

Where Irish online casino licensing stands

The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 replaced laws dating back to the 1930s and created the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland, which started work in March 2025. Licensing is arriving in stages. Applications for remote betting opened in February 2026 and the first betting licences took effect on 1 July 2026. In-person betting follows on 1 December 2026. Online casino, called remote gaming in the Act, is the next category, with applications expected during 2027.

Until that round opens, the online casinos Ireland relies on operate under licences from other regulators, which is why trusted Irish casino sites are judged by MGA and UKGC registers for now. That is why the licence column above reads MGA or UKGC rather than GRAI, and why the licence tracker follows which operators have applied, been granted or withdrawn as the Irish register fills up.

Some of the new rules already shape how the best online casinos Ireland lists here present themselves, and how any Irish online casino will have to present itself from 2027: credit card deposits are gone, stake and win limits apply to certain games, and complimentary bets, bonus credit and VIP schemes are prohibited once an operator holds an Irish licence.

Questions about online casinos in Ireland

6 questions

Is it legal to play at online casinos in Ireland?

01

Yes. Adults aged 18 and over can legally play at online casinos that serve Ireland. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 created a national regulator, the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland, and online casino licences are being phased in from 2027. Until then reputable sites operate under licences from regulators such as the Malta Gaming Authority or the UK Gambling Commission.

Which licence should an Irish online casino hold right now?

02

In September 2026 the strongest signals are a Malta Gaming Authority licence or a UK Gambling Commission licence, both of which publish a public register you can check. A Curaçao licence offers weaker player protection and is treated with more caution in the ratings here. Once the Irish regulator opens the remote gaming category, a GRAI licence becomes the benchmark.

How fast do the best online casinos in Ireland pay out?

03

E-wallets such as Skrill, Neteller and PayPal usually clear within 24 hours after verification. Debit cards and bank transfers take one to five working days. The payout figures on this page come from operator terms and from withdrawals reported by players, not from marketing copy.

Are casino bonuses still allowed in Ireland?

04

Welcome bonuses are offered today by casinos operating under MGA and UKGC licences. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 prohibits inducements such as complimentary bets, bonus credit and VIP programmes once an operator is licensed by the Irish regulator, so expect bonus terms to change as the 2027 licensing round arrives.

Can I deposit with a credit card at an Irish casino?

05

No. Credit card deposits are banned under the 2024 Act. Use a debit card, Revolut, PayPal, a bank transfer or an e-wallet. Every casino listed here accepts Visa and Mastercard debit cards.

How do I self-exclude from online casinos in Ireland?

06

Ireland does not yet have a national self-exclusion register. The regulator is building one under the 2024 Act. Until it launches, self-exclude at operator level in your account settings and, if gambling is causing harm, call the National Gambling Helpline on 1800 936 725, free and open 24 hours.
