Betway at a glance
Betway is one of a handful of operators that now hold an Irish licence of any kind. The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland granted Betway Limited a remote betting licence, reference GRAI-0524-RB-26-0001, on 1 July 2026, valid to 30 June 2029, after the company published its notice of intent in the Irish Daily Mail on 10 February 2026. That licence covers betting. The casino you are reading about here is a different product under a different licence, and that distinction runs through the whole review.

Licence and who runs it
Three registers were opened for this review, and Betway is on all three. The UKGC public register lists Betway Limited, account 39372, trading as Betway, with a Remote Casino Operating licence and General Betting Standard licences for real and virtual events, the casino and real-event licences active since 1 November 2014. The sanctions tab reads “No regulatory actions have been recorded for this business”. The domains list includes betway.com and casino.betway.com.
The Irish side is newer. The GRAI’s notice of intent page records the application for a remote betting licence, and the licence document itself, which Betway hosts on its own media server, is signed by the GRAI’s Director of Licensing and carries condition 7, a segregated customer account. The Revenue Commissioners’ register of licensed remote bookmaking operations dated 1 July 2026 lists licence 1010156 for Betway Limited with two named nominees.
Now the part that matters for a casino player. A remote betting licence under section 85(1)(b) of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 does not cover casino games. The GRAI has said remote gaming licence applications open at a later stage, and the industry expectation is 2027. AskGamblers lists an MGA licence for Betway alongside the UKGC one, and the Maltese head office fits that, but the MGA register is a JavaScript application that could not be read during this check, and the Irish version of betway.com redirects visitors from outside Ireland to betway.de. So: the betting licence is verified, the UKGC licence is verified, and the licence under which an Irish player’s blackjack hand is dealt is Maltese by every indication but not confirmed here.
Recourse follows the licence. For a bet, you now have an Irish regulator with the power to fine up to €20 million. For a casino dispute you have Betway’s complaints process and, if that fails, the ADR body named in the Maltese terms.
Games and providers
Honesty requires a short section. Because the Irish site could not be opened from outside the country, no game count, provider list or live-casino line-up was read from Betway itself for this review, and the numbers on comparison sites vary too much to repeat. AskGamblers shows Betway as a full casino with live tables. If a specific studio matters to you, check the lobby after registering and before depositing; registration does not commit you to anything.
That gap is annoying, and it is Betway’s own geo-routing that causes it.
Bonuses and the terms that matter
The same caveat applies. LiveScore’s Irish review, updated 14 August 2026, lists a sports offer (“bet €10, get €40 in complimentary bets”), a casino offer built around bonus spins, and a €5 minimum deposit. None of those figures were confirmed on Betway’s own pages for this review, and Betway changes its offers often, so they are reported here as what a third party saw last month, not as terms you can rely on.
What you can rely on is the general shape of a Betway offer: credited on deposit without a code, wagering expressed as a multiple of the bonus, a maximum bet while wagering, slots weighted at 100% and table games far lower, and an expiry measured in days rather than months. Those four lines are on every offer page and they decide whether an offer is worth taking. A 100% match with 35x wagering on the bonus and a €5 max bet is a grind for a €20 depositor; the same match at 25x is a reasonable deal.
One more thing to plan for: the 2024 Act treats complimentary bets, bonus credit and VIP schemes as inducements and restricts them once operators hold Irish licences. Deposits, withdrawals and how long they take
LiveScore’s Irish review lists deposits by debit card, Neteller, PayPal, Pay by Bank and Apple Pay, and withdrawals by debit card, Neteller, bank transfer, PayPal and Apple Pay, with most withdrawals inside 24 hours and card or bank withdrawals up to 72 hours. Revolut is not named. Credit cards are not an option for Irish players in any case; the 2024 Act bans them for gambling deposits.
The pattern in the complaints is more useful than any published timing. On both Trustpilot and AskGamblers, the withdrawal that goes wrong is the one requested before verification is complete, or the one that triggers a second round of document requests. Betway’s Irish licence conditions require a segregated customer account, which protects the money; they do not shorten a KYC queue. Upload ID and proof of address on the day you register.
What players report
The Trustpilot profile for betway.com is large and unhappy: a TrustScore of 1.3 from 18,564 reviews as of 3 September 2026, 46% one-star against 37% five-star, a profile claimed since March 2015, and replies to 33% of negative reviews, typically within 24 hours. Reviews from July to September 2026 repeat the same four complaints: accounts closed or suspended without an explanation, withdrawals delayed or reversed, repeated KYC requests, and a welcome offer that the player says was not applied. A smaller strand alleges unfair casino outcomes, which is the complaint every casino gets and which no review can adjudicate.
AskGamblers rates Betway 4.5 out of 10 with a player rating of 4.5 from 67 reviews, and records 172 complaints, 139 resolved and 33 not, with an average operator response of one day. Its complaint themes match Trustpilot’s: delayed withdrawals, weak support, unexplained restrictions, held funds, verification delays, and bet-slip disputes. Casino Guru’s page could not be opened (the site blocks automated checks), and its indexed listing of a “Very high” 9.1 safety index sits so far from the other two that it is reported here only as a curiosity.
A large part of the anger is bookmaker anger. Betway limits and closes the accounts of winning sports bettors, as every bookmaker does, and those customers write Trustpilot reviews. boards.ie threads on “being banned by bookies” mention Betway in that context, though the threads themselves returned errors when opened for this review. That does not make the casino complaints go away; it does explain why a listed, multi-licensed operator scores below sites with a tenth of its history.
Verdict
Betway is the right choice for an Irish player who already bets on racing or GAA and wants the casino in the same account, on the same app, under an operator that has now put its name in front of the Irish regulator. The betting licence is real, the UKGC record is clean on the register, the parent is listed in New York, and the money sits in a segregated account. If you verify your identity before you deposit and treat the casino welcome offer as optional, you get a mainstream, well-built product with the Galway Races heritage to go with it. Betway’s first Irish racing sponsorship was three Super Saturday races at Ballybrit, and the company later passed 4,000 sponsored races across 29 courses in the UK and Ireland; that is a firm that intends to stay.
You should look elsewhere if the casino is the only thing you want.
